Duplication (CD/DVD):
Duplication is a completely different process than replication, in that duplication “burns” the information onto a pre-made DVD-R or CD-R. Duplication is a faster process and tends to be the most cost effective choice when dealing with 500 discs or less.

"How does the process work?"
Duplication starts with a duplication ready master CD/DVD. The master is then transferred over to a duplication tower hard drive and then copied over to the tower’s slave drives to burn the discs. Once the discs are copied with the master’s information they are ready for printing. We offer both high quality direct to disc digital and thermal printing. We also, have a wide assortment of packaging options for both DVDs and CDs.

Replication(CD/DVD):
Replicated discs are manufactured from a stamper/glass master versus pre-made CD-Rs or DVD-Rs.

"How does the process work?"
Replication begins much like duplication does, but is a completely different process after that. Again, we start with a master disc, only this way we create what is called a “stamper”, instead of duplicating the discs in towers. From the “stamper”, we then manufacture the disc copies, using plastics, metals, and bonding agents.

Advantages of Replication:
  • More cost effective on larger runs (500+)
  • Higher quality discs with a longer life span
  • No compatibility issues

Other Helpful Definitions:

Stamper:
A stamper is digital mirror image of your master disc that is used in a press taking plastics, metals, and bonding agents to actually stamp a copy of the disc.

CD-R/DVD-R:
Discs that are pre-made as recordable (R) media. This means they are made as blank material that can be recorded on at a later date, unlike replicated discs.
